Tryptic Soy Broth is a general-purpose medium that is routinely used to grow fastidious bacteria (i.e. those that have high nutritional requirements) It is used in microbiology laboratories as a culture broth to grow aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria and fungi. It is also used to grow QC cultures. It contains no indicators or substrates for distinguishing microbial species. Tryptic soy broth is used primarily for growth, not identification.
