Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) is used as an enrichment medium in the Most Probable Number (MPN) method to estimate the total aerobic bacteria count. This medium supports the growth of a very wide range of bacteria, including fastidious and non-fastidious organisms Tryptic Soy Broth supports the growth of a very wide range of bacteria such as Streptococcus, Neisseria, Listeria, Haemophilus, Vibrio, Corynebacterium, and Brucella, as well as common bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and yeasts, and molds.
MPN tests for total viable bacterial counts are used in many applications, including sterility testing for non-sterile products and the microbial enumeration of food and water.
It is also an excellent non-selective growth medium for the cultivation of microorganisms.
In as little as 45 minutes, ToxTrak allows you to evaluate toxicity in a sample. Applicable to both drinking water and wastewater, ToxTrak measures and compares the toxicity of a sample to a baseline using either indigenous biomass or stock bacteria cultures.
Toxicity is monitored using several methods, such as growth, specific enzyme activity, bioluminescence, and respiration. These methods may require lengthy incubation times, centrifugation, solvent extraction, laborious colony counting procedures, and expensive equipment. With the ToxTrak Toxicity Test, you use a simple colorimetric method to determine the inhibitory effects of a waste stream on bacteria. With a photometer, you can monitor large numbers of samples quickly and inexpensively.
Cut costs in your laboratory by using ToxTrak to screen for potentially toxic influents and effluents. Or use it to identify dilutions for long-term bioassays. Long-term bioassays can require two to seven days to complete and are costly to perform.

ToxTrak is an inexpensive alternative that has results comparable to respirometric methods measuring dissolved oxygen consumption. You can use ToxTrak to screen influent and effluent and/or process waters. ToxTrak is also a useful tool for evaluating fluctuations in drinking water quality caused by intentional or accidental contamination.
